Insurance? [Do you have an answer? Then post it here.]

[Posted on 1.9.2009 - by cathryn ]

I am the programme manager for Arts+Media. We have had quite a few requests lately from people wanting advice on who to go to for public liability insurance for artists running workshops etc. The company we have previously recommended (Opus Insurance) has been taken over by a larger global company and so I am looking for advice and guidance from redteapoters regarding who gets what insurance supplied (locally or otherwise) by whom. Any info gratefully received.

* I recommend Performers at Wrightsure, which is really good although might not be suitable for everyone. Any Performing Artists who are Equity Members will also be covered by their membership.

Who does scans of paintings? [Do you have an answer? Then post it here.]

[Posted on 1.9.2009 - by Stuart]

Is there anyone who knows of a company who can do hi - res scans of my paintings ? Warwickshire area if possible.

* We can do high res scans for you here at Nellyb, up to A4 and we can print up to A3, if your paintings are larger, then someone like Rayfont, in Earlsdon could probably scan larger. You could also just photograph the paintings and input the photographs on a computer, it depends what you wanted to do with them. hope that helps.

Anyone have a kiln for rent? [Do you have an answer? Then post it here.]

Anyone have a kiln for rent?

* Hi - I have a Kiln that can be used for a firing - The internal width is 16" and the Max hight is 25". I am also looking for a studio with a larger Kiln than mine that i could rent space to make larger sculptures and use their Kiln rather than transport the sculpture and risk damage, can you also help with this - needs to be local to Kenilworth Warwickshire - thank you

Jennine

* Coventy Artspace Limited do have a kiln that you can hire, subject to availability. I think you will need to become a member though. To find out more you can contact Jackie Stevens or Laura Elliott on 024 7655 3533.

How much should I charge? [Do you have an answer? Then post it here.]

[Posted on 23.11.2011 - by maladdress8-photo@yahoo.co.uk]

I am setting up some art workshops in schools and wondered how much I should charge per day?

It depends on a few things, such as how many years experience you have, how much time you will need to spend preparing, whether there are any materials you will need to buy for the workshop, where the school is located, how much the school will pay and so on...

As a guide, for a half day session with no materials factored in, an artist might charge anything between £50 & £200 depending on experience!

If you are an a-n subscriber, I'd suggest having a look at their helpful online tool to help guage where to pitch yourself.
