PILOT Nights [Artists' networks]

PILOT Nights are a motley assortment of new, untested shorts from some of the UK’s most exciting theatre companies. Each last between 10 and 20 minutes and together present a glorious mix of comic, touching and peculiar performance. The bar is open all night and musicians play in the intervals. The audience are invited to get a drink, enjoy the show and stick around to let the performers know exactly what they thought.

BRINK [Arts organisations]

BRINK is a 'not for profit' contemporary arts organisation based in the Midlands, UK.

Founded in October 2010 by artist/curator Tim Robottom and writer/curator Sarah Silver, our aim is to raise awareness of contemporary art and render it more accessible to the public, whilst promoting talented, emerging artists, through the organisation of events and shows that occur in less traditional exhibition spaces.

Clarke Gallery [Arts organisations]

Clarke Gallery was set up by artist/curator Elly Clarke in her Berlin apartment in 2008 but since Elly move to the Midlands in Jan 2011 Clarke Gallery has evolved into a mobile gallery - meaning that shows travel to host venues in various cities. Over the past 18 months Clarke Gallery exhibitions have been shown at Eastern Edge Gallery, St Johns, Newfoundland, Canada; Franklin Furnace in New York, USA; Galerie Suvi Lehtinen in Berlin and, (Arts Council Funding pending!) hopefully to The Meter Room in Coventry in Jan 2012. In time, Elly Clarke hopes to find a more permanent space in Birmingham for the gallery.

The Embroiderers' Guild, Coventry Branch [Arts organisations]

We meet at the Magdelen Centre in Sir Thomas Whites Road, Hearsall/Chapelfields (the church with the 'big blue roof') twice a month. Usually every third Saturday 1.30-4.30 for talks and presentations by textile artists or workshop sessions on various stitch and mixed media techniques. All day workshops are also held from time to time. A hands-on stitching session takes place at 10-12.45 on every last Monday in the month (except BH's, then the one before). Currently some members are researching the mediaeval history of 'Coventry Blue' and plan to create contemporary stitched textile 'tiles' inspired by their research findings.
Newcomers are always welcome at this lively, friendly group - feel free to just turn up at a meeting (£3 to visitors.) Our 2010 programme is now available.
