In July 2011, Coventry Artspace will launch their new 1-Hour Residencies; an essential social space for shared reflection, discussion and mutual support in relation to practice for up to 10 artists at a time. All the need-to-know details are below. To book now email us: mail@coventry-artspace.co.uk and tell us something interesting about yourself.
What are the 1-Hour Residencies
The Coventry Artspace 1-Hour Residencies were inspired by two nuns who have been offering "online retreats" to help pay the bills at their Benedictine monastery in Oxfordshire. After thinking about what an online retreat could be, our creative Steering Group were inspired to create the 1-Hour Residencies.
Through the Artspace 1-Hour Residencies, we aim to provide artists with time and space away from their usual environment. They could be for reflective discussion, research, presentation and/or production.
As a general starting point, we’ve decided on simple themes which are designed to spark ideas and the residency process in a supportive environment with other members of the Artspace network.
Why would I like to come?
The 1-Hour Residencies will allow individuals to explore their practice within another community of up to 10 artists including members of the Artspace networks and artists working in a range of art forms.
We hope that you will enjoy meeting new people, discussing or using new materials or skills, experiencing discussion and reflection of practice in a new location.

In 2012 Talking Birds will be 20 years old. Perhaps less widely known, 2012 is also London's Olympic year, and so to celebrate both those things, we are embarking on a year long project called Decathlon - ten artworks, each inspired by the decathlon's ten sporting disciplines.
Some of the ten artworks require the input from other artists, and so we will be issuing a series of calls for contributions over the next few months.
Three great opportunities from Talking Birds - see the web link for details.
Deadline: 15th May 2012
BRINK is currently viewing proposals from sculptors, installation artists, painters and performers for an up-coming one-day, open-air exhibition that we are organising at the Lions Grand Show, in Abbey Fields, Kenilworth on 2nd June 2011.
The work can be on any theme, but please take into consideration that the works will be on display to families.
This year, we are making ART ON THE EDGE bigger and better. As well as the open-air exhibition, we will also have a marquee area for exhibiting paintings or more delicate works, and a limited number of stalls.
The exhibition is free to enter. Stalls may be shared and cost €40.00 for artists and £65.00 for companies or organisations.
A risk assessment will be required from the artist/exhibitor on acceptance of the work.
