Red Teapot Book

This 62 page book offers a round up and reminder of what went on at Red Teapot Day, as well as putting forward a few theories about art and artists that we hope will get you thinking and talking.

Such as:

  • Virtually all artists say they want critical debate, but most shy away from actually engaging in it.

  • Artists should set aside time to talk to each other about those things that really matter, whatever these are.

  • Don't make the mistake of thinking that networking alone is your most important function.

  • Funding bodies should probably not seek to establish networks. Where artists find they need networks, they will probably set them up.

  • Space, Time and Resources should be prioritised by anybody involved in providing support for artists. Without these, there is nothing.

  • The more curious and playful the artist, the more valuable they are.

Thank You

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank David Patten, Julia O'Connell, Vanessa Oakes and Jo Roberts for agreeing to be involved and helping to develop Red Teapot Day into what it became. I'd also like to thank Arts Council England and Arts & Media for the funds to make it all happen; David Bennett for superb production management; Anthony Cropper, Clare Duffy, Joe Hammond, Ava Ming, Mark Hancock for their writing; Anand Chhabra for the beautiful photographs and Andy Moore for inspired graphic design. Also big thanks to Theatre Absolute for letting us use their shopfront theatre for the book launch.

As we always say 'it couldn't happen without you'...
